If you’re visiting the USA and fancy doing some clothes or shoe shopping, you’ll want to make sure you’re buying the right sizes! Here are some really helpful size charts to help make sure you’re not wasting money on the wrong items.
Figuring out clothing conversions can be tricky at the best of time, so keeping these two charts handy is a great idea.
The USA has loads of shoe brands that we don’t have here in the UK, and you can seriously grab a bargain on designer brands too (as usually the conversion rate works in your favour). If it’s shoe shopping you’ve got your heart set on, here’s a handy chart from Lyst.
For clothing, sizes are also slightly different in the USA, so you’ll want to make sure you have this conversion chart handy when you’re shopping. This sizing conversion chart below is from ASOS.
Finding the best shopping malls
Shopping malls are a plenty in the USA, and they’re probably where you’re going to find the best variety of shops. If you thought the UK had big shopping malls, you’re not even ready to experience the ones in the US! Here’s a list of the biggest shopping malls in the USA, so take a look and see if any of these fall near your holiday location.
If you want a bargain…
Outlet malls are a great idea if you want to snap up some bargains, and the US has loads of them scattered about. They’re usually a bit out of town (might require a bus or taxi ride) but if you don’t mind the extra journey, they’re full of loads of stores and shops and have previous seasons stock, at seriously reduced prices. This website has a map of where to find your closest one.
If you’re ordering online…
Maybe you’re not travelling abroad, maybe you’re just indulging in a bit of shopping online from US stores. If so, you’re going to want to make sure you’ve taken into account the customs charges on any items you order, there’s a pretty useful guide here on the GOV.UK website. There are some good online clothing stores to take a look at here, if you fancy a browse!
