Located just 20 minutes from downtown, it’s the perfect spot to visit for nature lovers who are looking for a break from Brooksville’s hustle and bustle.

With a massive scenic state trail that spans 50 miles, you can hike and bike to your heart’s content! If you’re hiking, be sure to keep an eye (and your camera!) out for the local flora and fauna – it is worth capturing if you can spot it! This is a great choice for things to do in Brooksville.


The Hernando Historical Museum

If you’re in Brooksville for its history and culture, then you’ll want to put the Hernando Historical Museum on your list of things to do in Brooksville.

This museum preserves the 1855 four-story home that was originally constructed by John May. This is one of Brooksville’s three heritage spots, and if we’re being honest, it’s probably our favourite! Packed to the rafters with historical artefacts from famous American wars (think Civil War and Vietnam War), it’s absolutely worth a visit if you’re looking to expand your knowledge.

Tom Varn Park

Another stunning natural spot in Brooksville, Florida is Tom Varn Park, and it’s next on our list of things to do in Brooksville. Though it’s not quite as big as Withlacoochee State Forest, it’s a lovely bit of greenery that’s perfect for a picnic or leisurely walk.

If you’ve got the kids with you, we highly recommend stopping off here, as it’s got a great little playground that will keep those little ones occupied for a bit.
