Are you wondering whether you should rent a car in Las Vegas? There are a few reasons why it’s a great idea which I’ll talk about here…
If you’re visiting Las Vegas, you may be wondering if it’s a good idea to rent a car in Las Vegas, and if having a care helps you see more of the city. Hopefully in this blog post I’ll answer all those questions, and help you work out whether you’ll need to rent a care in Las Vegas during your trip.
So… Why should you rent a car in Las Vegas?
Reason #1: It’s let’s you explore a little further than the Strip
Reason #1 why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is that renting a car in Las Vegas lets you explore a little further afield. Las Vegas isn’t all about the Strip, in fact there’s loads of places worth visiting in Las Vegas (all of which become easier to reach when you rent a car).
From outlet malls in Las Vegas, to public parks, to cheaper casinos, there are plenty of reasons to venture off the Strip and see more of Las Vegas city. Renting a car in Las Vegas allows you to head out of the touristy areas and see more of the city.
Reason #2: The Grand Canyon
Reason #2 why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is the Grand Canyon! It’s right next to Las Vegas, and it’s a pretty impressive drive you can easily do yourself.
Too many tourists decide to just get a tour company to take them, but it’s so much more exciting and adventurous to drive yourself to the Grand Canyon. There are so many amazing places to see the grand canyon – and you’ll need a car to reach most of them.
If you rent a car in Las Vegas, you can head there on your own, with your own time frame, schedule and plan for the day. It also gives you the option to stay over night in the Grand Canyon too – so you can witness that iconic canyon sunrise!
Reason #3: SO MANY other national parks
OK, reason #3 why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is all the other amazing national parks around the Las Vegas area. If you rent a car in Las Vegas, you can actually get out and explore all these amazing naturally stunning surroundings.
Some of my favorites include; Red Rock Canyon, Zion National Park, Valley of Fire, Death Valley and Lake Mead. Oh and don’t forget about the Hoover Dam too! There are so many amazing day trips around Las Vegas.
They’re all only a short drive from Las Vegas, so renting a car in Las Vegas is the perfect to tick all of these amazing places off your bucket list.
Reason #4: Renting a car in Vegas is affordable (yes really!)
Reason #4 of why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, it’s that renting a car in Vegas is actually really affordable. Most people are surprised when I tell them how affordable renting a car is in Las Vegas.
People have this misconception about Las Vegas, that everything is super expensive and over-priced, but the truth is, the city is pretty reasonable (and that includes the car rental prices).
In the past, I’ve rented a 5-door new car for as little as $50 per day, and has no issues. For $200 (over 4 days) it gave us so much freedom and the ability to see so much – it was worth every penny!
Reason #5: You’ll feel damn cool
Reason #5 of why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is that it’s just DAMN COOL. Have you ever rented a convertible and driven down the Las Vegas strip in the sunshine, wind in your hair, music blasting? No? I bet you can imagine it though!
The fact is, driving down the Las Vegas strip is epic, and it’s even more epic when you’re behind the wheel. It’s just an experience everyone should have!
Reason #6: There are plenty of free places to park
Reason #6 of why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is that it’s surprisingly easy to get around, and a lot of the car parks and garages are free to use. This makes the whole experience of driving in Las Vegas much simpler. Lots of the hotels also offer free valet parking too – which is a massive bonus.
A lot of the major hotels have completely free parking (for example; The Wynn, Venetian, Treasure Island, Tropicana, Rio and Planet Hollywood) and many of the non-free hotels will other free parking to guests. You can find a full list of Las Vegas parking fees for the different hotels here.
Reason #7: There are loads of cars to choose from
Reason #7 of why you should rent a car in Las Vegas, is the sheer variety of cars you can rent in Las Vegas. Because Las Vegas is a city of fun, and trying new things, it’s a chance to rent that car you’ve always lusted after.
A bright red convertible, or a pink mini? Or maybe that impossibly expensive sports car you’ve loved since being a kid… You’ll find it (and be able to drive it) here! If you fall in love with that sports car in Las Vegas, you might decide to upgrade your car to something more luxurious. In Las Vegas you can sell your old car with Junk That Car and buy a luxury ride too.
Top tip for renting a car in Las Vegas…
You don’t necessarily need to rent a car for the full duration of your trip in Las Vegas. If you want to visit the Grand Canyon and a couple of other parks during your time in Las Vegas, it’s worth just renting a car for those days.
Las Vegas is a pretty well connected city (and most of the tourist attractions are easy to walk to from one hotel to another) and most of the main things to do in Las Vegas can be easily walked to… So you don’t necessarily need the car ALL the time.
Work out how long you need the car for (perhaps 2-3 days), and rent it for those days only. It’ll save you a bit of cash too!
