I wanted to get this site populated with a few posts before we went – so here’s another. As friends will know – this move isn’t a permanent one and we are more than planning on returning back to London. We both absolutely love the city – and it’ll be a massive shock to the system not being here any more (and mainly not having 24 hour buses and 24 hour Sainsbury’s, etc).
Here are some things we’ll miss about London:
– Hawksmoor Steak House
– The constant stream of red buses everywhere
– Forbidden Planet
– The Southbank
– Embankment
– Our lovely friends
– Distilled (Where Paddy works)
– Electric Dialogue (Where Ellie works)
– The unpredicatable weather which is sometimes nice
– Monmouth Coffee
– My Sister
– The Thames in the sunshine (not in the rain)
– The shops (Paddy does not agree with me here)
– Piano Bar
– Brixton Market
– Team Spam
Things I am worried New Zealand won’t have:
– Jalapeño Peppers (Paddy – for the record – bet me $5 there will be afore mentioned peppers. We’ll see.)
– Marmite
– Haribo sweets
– Friends on TV
Relax – we have Jalapeño Peppers in NZ!
We have our own Marmite too, but there’s a shortage at present. From the marmite NZ website: “In November, our Christchurch factory was closed due to earthquake damage. This factory is the only one that makes Sanitarium Marmite”. So best to bring your own! (declare it at the border though…)
We are already bracing ourselves for a year without our special girl – it will be odd without you but we are so thrilled we get to keep you part time while you are on the road! We would’nt want to wish a minute of your trip away…but hurry home! x
