Though this is a small attraction in North Devon, it provides plenty of awesome activities for little ones.
Hosting everything from interactive displays to special themed tasks, it’s a really fun place to visit in North Devon as a family.
The Big Sheep
The Big Sheep is next on my list of things to do in North Devon! Though this is technically classed as a theme park, the main draw of The Big Sheep is the sheep! With a massive indoor play area, a great pet corner, quad bikes, and even laser tag, this amazing outdoor theme park is the perfect place for a family day out.

Go hiking!
If you love the outdoors, then there are so many things to do in North Devon for you… One of the main things being hiking (or walking!). Hiking around North Devon is just stunning, and some of the best hikes in the area have wonderful views over the ocean and countryside.
RHS Garden Rosemoor
Next on my list of things to do in North Devon, it’s the PHS Rosemoor. If you’re interested in flowering plants, then you’ll want to put a visit to RHS Garden Rosemoor on your list of fun things to do in North Devon.
With amazing blooms and some of the most perfect hedgerows that you may ever see, these gardens are the perfect place to get lost in on a sunny afternoon.
Valley of Rocks
Next on my list of things to do in North Devon, it’s the Valley of Rocks. The Valley of Rocks is this unique and beautiful bit of landscape, with interesting rock formations and geological history. It’s great if you’re into your geography or history, but it’s also a great spot for photographers too, as the landscape is very interesting and unique!

If you want to really splash out, then taking a helicopter ride over the North Devon countryside is truly a magnificent thing to do in North Devon. Enjoy the views of the rolling hills and blue ocean from meters above the ground! There’s nothing quite like it!

With everything from roller coasters to archery, it’s a must-visit spot that won’t disappoint, and it’s a great idea for things to do in North Devon.
Surfing in North Devon
Next on my list of things to do in North Devon, it’s surfing! As you’re by the coast, you might want to consider adding surfing to your list of fun things to do in North Devon.
Whether you’re a total pro or a beginner, you’ll be able to surf at Devon’s beaches. Most of the top beaches offer surfing lessons, so just be sure to book ahead to avoid disappointment!
Visit the Gnome Reserve
If you’re travelling with little ones, then we highly recommend checking out the Gnome Reserve. Though it’s totally bizarre, it’s one of the most fun things to do in North Devon.
Even adults love hunting for pesky little gnomes that are hidden within the woodland paths. As the Gnome Reserve is huge, you can genuinely spend hours here! It’s a great choice for things to do in North Devon, for adults and kids alike!
Head to a dog-friendly beach!

Exmoor Zoo is my next idea for things to do in North Devon – and it’s perfect for families. Zoos are always a great idea, and if you’re heading to North Devon with curious kids, then it’s a great idea to allocate one of your afternoons to visiting the Exmoor Zoo.
Though Exmoor is quite a small zoo, it really doesn’t disappoint with the animals that are on offer. Oh, and they’re extremely well looked after too, which of course we love! It’s always a good option for things to do in North Devon.
Clovelly
The ancient fishing village of Clovelly is a must-visit if you’re looking for things to do in North Devon. What we love about this spot, is that it’s almost like stepping back in time. There is no vehicular traffic, just donkeys and sledges – yep, we’re serious!
With adorable little cottages and quaint, winding lanes, you can easily wile away an entire day here and not even notice the time passing.
Ilfracombe
Another beautiful village on the coast is Ilfracombe, and it’s next on my list of things to do in North Devon. Why do I love it here? It’s one of those picture-perfect seaside towns, and it’s an absolute joy to wander around on a sunny day.
Woolacombe Beach Huts
If you’re after the perfect Instagram photo opportunity… then this is it! The Woolacombe Beach Huts are so cute and kitcsh and sum up everything ‘British’ about visiting the seaside. I love how colourful they are! It’s a great option for things to do in North Devon!

Be sure to keep an eye out for the awesome artwork on display here – seriously, it’s worth the price of admission, which makes this a fab choice for things to do in North Devon. Also the flowers are just stunning – so visiting here in spring or summer will be such a treat.
Dartington Crystal
If you’re a glass collector, then one of the top fun things to do in North Devon is going to be a visit to Darlington Crystal. This place features premium crystal collections that are hand-crafted by highly experienced glass makers. Though this isn’t for everyone, it’s awesome to look inside the factory to see how it’s all made!
Arlington Court

Arlington Court is home to the National Carriage Museum, so you’ll be able to look at horse drawn vehicles to your heart’s content. Bliss.
Westward Ho! Beach

Great for swimming and those who love their water sports, this is the perfect place to settle in for the day if you’re travelling with kids. It’s also a top location for surfing too, and a great place to book surfing lessons!
Ilfacombe Aquarium
If you’re travelling to North Devon with the kids, then be sure to pop Ilfracombe Aquarium on your list of things to do in North Devon.
Not only does this place have a seriously funky gift shop (it’s literally called the funky fish gift shop!), but it is also home to some awesome marine life. So, if you want to take some pressure off planning, then simply book a ticket for the aquarium and let the kids be entranced.
Borough Farm
If you want a good laugh, then be sure to head down to Borough Farm for the annual Sheepdog and Falconry Show at Borough Farm, it’s such a unique option for things to do in North Devon!
Having been run by David Kennard and his family for over 20 years, this weird and wonderful animal festival (that originally began as a farm diversification project) is a must-do if you’re heading to the North Devon area.
Lynton & Barnstaple Railway
Next on my list of things to do in North Devon – it’s the Lynton and Barnstaple Railway! Everyone loves a good steam train, so why not hop on the Lynton & Barnstaple Railway for an authentic country experience?
Having originally opened in 1898, this steam train brings visitors through the beautiful rolling countryside. Be sure to bring your camera along for this one, as you’re almost guaranteed some excellent shots.
Quince Honey Farm
Quince Honey Farm is my next idea for things to do in North Devon. It is a family run business which was first established in 1949. Now home to over 1500 hives, it’s an awesome place to visit if you’re even remotely interested in bees (or honey!). Oh, and there’s a great soft play area for kids too – score!
Take a kayak out at Combe Martin
Combe Martin is my next idea for things to do in North Devon – and it’s so stunning! As beautiful as it is, but it’s even better if you head out on the water in a kayak or a boat!
Why not rent a kayak from one of the surrounding gear shops and get your oar stuck in? Trust us, it’s a ton of fun – just don’t fall in! Or, if you’re feeling braver – why not try a paddle board?
Combe Martin Wildlife & Dinosaur Park
Next on my list of things to do in North Devon… a classic choice for families with kids! The Combe Martin Wildlife Centre and Dinosaur Park is a seriously fun day out that everyone will enjoy! I mean, there are dinosaurs… what more could you want!
Have a classic Devonshire Cream Tea!
And finally on my list of things to do in North Devon – there is the classic afternoon tea! There’s nothing better than a great Cream Tea, and Devon is one of the best places to get your fix!
Though this isn’t as outwardly ‘fun’ a thing to do as some of the other items on our list, it’s certainly a great thing to do for worn out travelers that need a little TLC. Go on, you deserve it. Plus… food is fun! And delicious!
