London is one of the best places in the world for luxury cuisine, and only a few other cities in the world can boast the same number of beautiful, classic, luxurious (not to mention delicious) restaurants.
I’ve spent the summer exploring restaurants in London, and whilst a lot of my favourites have been recommended by friends, we also use Instagram and TikTok to discover new places too.
Here are a few of my favourites, and the best luxury restaurants in London that I’ve come across:
Smith’s of Wapping
Address: 22 Wapping High St, London E1W 1NJ
Located by Tower Bridge, if you want London flair and charm, with incredible views and a central location – Smith’s Restaurant is where you’ll want to be.
Stephen Bard is the Head Chef and combines his experience at some of London’s most famous restaurants with a fresh take on food and taste combinations.
Detail is everything here – and even the waiters and servers attend regular tasting days to make sure they know the menu inside out. This is surely one of the best luxury restaurants in London.
Address: 13 Albemarle St, London W1S 4HP
A new restaurant venture from Russian restaurateur Aklady Novikov (of Novikov fame) – this Mayfair eatery is all about classic English comfort food – amazing meat, crunchy chips, a few fish and salad options and all done (of course) to perfection.
The atmosphere is chic, trendy and everything you’d expect from the Mayfair location, whilst feeling a little indulgent too – the restaurant is full of character and enthusiasm for everything food – and you can’t help but notice it when you walk in.
Known for serving the best steak in London – this is one of the best places to eat in the city. Hawksmoor has expanded quickly over the last 5 years and because of their success have been opening new restaurants all across the city.
For a ‘Great Gatsby’ experience, check out their Air Street restaurant on Regents Street – which has beautiful Art Decor interiors and a beautiful menu of steak and BBQ meat to match.
Address: 4 Hollywood Rd, Chelsea, UK SW10 9HY
If you love Italian food and want to be whisked away to the hills of Tuscany – then this restaurant might just get you there.
The food is everything you love about Italian cuisine – rich in flavour, fresh, and colourful. The restaurant is truly unique, being family-run and boasting fresh food and cooking everything on site.
The atmosphere is something special too – intimate and friendly, as you’d expect of course.
Address:40 – 42 William IV St, London WC2N 4DD
For a luxurious slice of life in Paris, then Les Deux Salons is a must-visit. The sophisticated and stylish restaurant is classic and timeless, offering a level of service unrivaled by restaurants near by.
Situated right in the heart of London’s theatre district, this is a great choice for a pre or post theatre meal, making it the cherry on top of a perfect evening.
I’d also recommend visiting for Sunday Lunch, when the menu format is simple, informal and all-inclusive. It is also great value for money with three courses at £29.50pp.

Address: Level 31, The Shard, 31 St Thomas St, London SE1 9RY
Located atop London’s tallest building, Aqua Shard is not only luxurious – but really impressive and breath-taking too.
The views alone will keep you entertained throughout your meal, and once you’ve finished eating – it’s worth sticking around for a few drinks in the stylish bar area too.
This is a great choice for a first date – if you really want to impress!
Address: Halkin Street, London SW1X 7DJ
London has only a handful of Michelin Star restaurants and this modern Spanish restaurant is one of them.
The food has been perfected to connote the earthy and rustic flavours of Spain, and (as you’d expect of any Michelin Star restaurant, the service and presentation is second to none).
Inside, the decor and atmosphere is unique, inventive and inspiring – meaning you’ll remember this place not only for the delicious food.
This is only the tip of the iceberg, and there are many others that could be named the best luxury restaurants in London!Check out Quandoo‘s suggestions for more luxury restaurants in Central London.
I’ve heard some great things about Smith’s of Wapping and look forward to getting along there before too long. Thanks for your well-illustrated suggestions.
