Red Shed Brewery and Tasting Room

First on my list of things to do in Cherry Valley NY, it’s a brewery! Red Shed Brewery and Tasting Room is a quaint craft brewery that makes original ales made using local hops and grains. As these guys are based in New York and aim to be fully self-sufficient, they’re one of the best local breweries to visit for a fresh and unique beer.

The main draw of this place is its beers, but what makes it one of the best things to do in Cherry Valley, NY is its beer garden. Offering awesome views of an old farm and even live music on the weekends, it’s a great hang-out spot for locals and tourists alike. This is such a great choice for things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

Cherry Valley Museum

The Cherry Valley Museum is absolutely one of the best things to do in Cherry Valley, NY. Located in the center of the village, this museum is a great place to learn more about both the Revolutionary War and the Civil War. Though the museum isn’t enormous, its artefacts are housed over two quite substantial floors.

So, you’re unlikely to get through the museum in a massive hurry! Be sure to keep an eye out for the historical portraits of important figures – one of the most notable is the original portrait of NYS Attorney General Thomas Hillhouse! Oh, and if that wasn’t enough, there is even some early fire equipment on display. If you love history, this is a great choice for things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

Cherry Valley Lilacs

Visiting the Cherry Valley Lilacs is one of the most incredible things to do in Cherry Valley, NY. If you’re not sure what Cherry Valley Lilacs is, it’s a family-owned lilac farm in Cherry Valley that feature some of the world’s rarest lilacs!

Though the lilacs themselves are stunning, one of the coolest things about Cherry Valley Lilacs is the fact that they make soothing therapeutic pomades and essential oils that guests can purchase! We just love a good souvenir, so this is certainly one of my top things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

Cherry Valley Cemetery

Sure, this may give some of you the creeps, but the Cherry Valley Cemetery is a stunning rural spot that will give you some much-needed peace and quiet. However, it’s not just the serene silence that makes this place special. It happens to be where many of America’s most famous have been laid to rest.

Holding the remains of soldiers, artists, and entertainers, Cherry Valley Cemetery is an interesting place to walk through if you want to learn more about the residents of Cherry Valley from generations past.

Colonel Alden Monument

This monument is small but paying it a visit is one of the best things that you can do in Cherry Valley, NY. This place has a rich war history, and this spot is particularly interesting when you know about its backstory.

The inscription on the monument states that its exact spot is where Colonel Ichabold Alden was brought down by a tomahawk (to the FACE!) on the morning of the Cherry Valley massacre. It’s pretty grisly, but you can’t deny it’s a fascinating tale. It’s a really interesting choice for things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

If you’re a lover of all things literature, then be sure to head on down to the Cherry Valley Bookstore. It’ll definitely be one of the top things to do in Cherry Valley NY for you! Though this place may look completely unassuming, it’s home to over 15,000 volumes and is said to be ever-expanding.

With books ranging from history to children’s, you’re sure to find something here to head home with. In case you were interested, this little independent bookshop has a cool history. We can’t pin down exactly when it was built, but we can say that it was once Amos Swan’s cabinet shop and once operated as a telegraph office too. A great choice for things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

Rose and Kettle Restaurant

If you’re looking for a great meal, then you need to head to Rose and Kettle Restaurant. This restaurant is fine dining at its best, and though the meals here are delectable, the atmosphere isn’t too haughty. This is a perfect option for things to do in Cherry Valley NY for foodies!

What we love about this restaurant (aside from its food of course!) is the fact that it goes out of its way to source food from local farms. Not only does this mean that what you get is as fresh as can be, but it also means that the local economy gets supported – awesome!

Civil War Monument

If you’re interested in local history, then this will be one of the top things to do in Cherry Valley NY for you. It’s certainly one of the most sobering things to do in Cherry Valley, to pay a visit to the Civil War Monument.

This large obelisk honors all the citizens who died during the civil war, and it’s a really beautiful dedication in the middle of the square that we think is well worth taking a look at.

The Rag & Bone Parlor

If you love shopping… then this is one of the top things to do in Cherry Valley NY for you and yours! This shop in Cherry Valley is one of the coolest things to do in the area. The Limestone Mansion

New York is full of incredible stately homes, and Cherry Valley is no exception to that rule! One of the finest homes in Cherry Valley is the Limestone Mansion. The Te-Pee Gift Shop

The iconic Te-pee gift shop is one of the most popular things to do in Cherry Valley, NY. Not only is it a nod to America’s First Nation, but it sells beautiful Native American craft items that you simply won’t find anywhere else.

It’s a bit of a strange place, as it’s technically located just off the highway, but it’s certainly one of the most interesting things to do in the area if you happen to be passing through.

Plaide Palette

Plaide Palette is a unique spot in Cherry Valley, NY and we highly recommend heading down to this gift shop if you have the chance, and adding it to your list of things to do in Cherry Valley NY.

Specializing in Scottish, Irish, Welsh, and British gifts, this is the perfect place to visit if you happen to be searching for the perfect gift for a homesick friend from across the pond. Cherry Valley Artworks

For art lovers, this next suggestion is the best choice for things to do in Cherry Valley NY. Cherry Valley Artworks was specifically set up to promote art within Cherry Valley, and we honestly think paying it a visit is one of the best things to do in Cherry Valley, NY. What’s on offer varies hugely throughout the year, but whatever the season, there’s art going on here.

Some of the best offerings tend to be during the summer when string quartets and international musicians take to the stage. So, if we had to suggest a time to visit Cherry Valley for its art scene, we recommend the summer months!

Cherry Valley State Forest

And last on my list of things to do in Cherry Valley NY, it’s Cherry Valley State Forest. This beautiful state forest is one of the best things to do in Cherry Valley, NY.
