Check out a castle!
There are a couple of great castles in Thousand Islands, NY, so that’s next on my list of things to do in Thousand Islands, NY.
The best one around is Boldt Castle, so I’d recommend adding that specific castle to your personal list of things to do in Thousand Islands, NY.
Boldt Castle is only accessible by water (it’s located on Heart Island), so you’ll need to book a boat to get you over there. Once you’ve arrived, we recommend taking a few moments to appreciate the incredible architecture of the place.
In case you were interested, this castle was built by George Boldt as a gift for his lovely wife. Unfortunately, she passed away from congestive heart failure rather suddenly before she could see it finished.
As all work stopped after she died unexpectedly, it took 70 more years for this castle to be completed. It’s an intriguing story, that’s for sure!
And certainly one of the most interesting things to do in Thousand Islands, NY.
