Although we suggest hitting the world-famous “Cheers” bar while you’re in Boston, you might want to head on the Historic Taverns Tour to cover more ground.

This is one of our top things to do in Boston at night as it takes you through North End, Charlestown, Blackstone Block, and Faneuil Hall.

Not only will you be able to hoist a pint at America’s Oldest Tavern (dating to 1795!), but the tour even includes a ferry ride across Boston Harbor!

Stargazing might be one of the most romantic things to do in Boston at night – and one of the most memorable too.

The Judson B. Coit Observatory is the place for stargazing, and this place is found on the roof of the CAS building at Boston University.

The have public open nights occasionally, so if you’re in town for one of these nights, it’d be a fantastic choice for things to do in Boston at night.

Although Boston may not be as famous as New York for its shows, you’ll still be able to catch amazing entertainment while you’re in town.

Both venues are renowned for their high-quality productions and gorgeous interiors.

For obvious reasons, you’ll want to double-check your dates and times before visiting places. 

But the Museum of Fine Arts is usually open late on Wednesdays, with the Institute of Contemporary Art being open on Thursdays.

If you’re traveling with kids, you might want to head to the Boston Museum of Science which is open until 9 pm on Thursdays.

Watch a sports game

Go shopping at Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market

A visit to Faneuil Hall Marketplace and Quincy Market are totally one of the best things to do in Boston at night!

Believe it or not, this spot has been standing since 1742 (yep, you read that right!), and it’s been transformed into a huge complex of shops and food stalls over the years.

It’s a wonderful place to grab a drink with friends, but you can also spend hours indulging in retail therapy until 9 pm most nights (except Sundays!).

Whether you want to shop ‘til you drop or enjoy a delicious meal while you’re here, you’re unlikely to be disappointed by the 100+ shops here!


Dine Alfresco on Newbury Street

Dining alfresco (if you didn’t know) means dining outdoors!

And one of the nicest places to dine outdoors in Boston is on Newbury Street.

There aren’t many casinos in Boston, but their main one is the Encore at Boston Harbour.
