Chateau LaFayette Reneau

Next on our list of Seneca Lake wineries, we have Chateau LaFayette Reneau! It’s been around for over 35 years, so these folks certainly know what they’re doing.

This is one of the most popular vineyards on the Seneca Wine Trail, and it spans an incredible 110 acres by the river.

As the climate is ideal for growing grapes for red and white wines, the flavors here are truly incredible.

The tasting room is located on a large deck that sees plenty of sun during the summer.

Glenora Wine Cellars

Glenora Wine Cellars is one of the most popular Seneca Lake wineries around, and it’s been taking New York by storm since 1977.

In addition to offering incredible dry, semi-dry, and pours, you’ll get breathtaking views of the lakeside as you sip.

It’s dreamy stuff, and one of the best wineries on Seneca Lake.

What makes this one of our all-time favorite Seneca Lake wineries is the fact that you can stay overnight in the adjoining inn. 

It’s just lovely and really adds to the vineyard experience. And hey – you can certainly drink more wine if you don’t have to think about driving!


Fox Run Vineyards

If you’re on the hunt for Seneca Lake wineries that have both wine and food covered, then you’ll love Fox Run Vineyards.

It’s known for its wonderful Rieslings and red wines, but you can also try out their uber-dry pours if you fancy something different from Seneca Lake wineries.

But the best thing about this Seneca Lake winery is the cheese board selection. We might be biased, but we adore pairing a perfect glass of wine with rich cheese and a hunk of bread.

Honestly, the addition of food is what makes this one of the finest Seneca Lake wineries on the map.

Belhurst Castle & Winery

Belhurst Castle & Winery is one of the best wineries on Seneca Lake, and it totally deserves a place on our shortlist!

This is among the most aesthetic Seneca Lake wineries out there, as it offers the backdrop of an actual castle in addition to lakeside views.

Although we recommend checking out Belhurst’s tasting menu (which is very affordable, BTW!), you may want to visit Edgar’s Restaurant for more sustenance.

Spanning 80 acres of land right by Seneca Lake, it grows almost 15 varieties of grape which makes for seriously unique wines.

There is an awesome guided tour and tasting combo that takes you around the entire property. 

Not only does it let you sample the best Lakewood wines, but it teaches you all about the history of the area.

Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars

If you’re searching for Seneca Lake wineries that are sustainable and eco-friendly, then be sure to check out Lamoreaux Landing Wine Cellars.

This spot relies on solar power for all its energy. So, they’re virtually carbon negative at this point!

Although their commitment to the environment is impressive, the most amazing part of this property is still the wines.

The Chardonnay is particularly dreamy. It’s subtle and warm with notes of vanilla, hitting the tongue with confidence.

If you’re not a fan of Chardonnay, you can choose from any of their signature wines during your tasting. There is an excellent selection of reds, so don’t overlook them!

But we’d say what makes it one of the most special wineries on Seneca Lake is the tasting room. 

It has high beams, large windows that flood the room with light, and an immense chandelier that gives the entire room a distinctive European character.

Okay, we just couldn’t create a list of Seneca Lake wineries without mentioning the iconic Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard. This is another amazing pick for wineries on Seneca Lake.

This is possibly our favorite location for Rieslings as there are just so many options. 

But if you need a helping hand, we suggest trying the HJW Riesling Bio. It’s gloriously sweet and incorporates notes of honey for a natural taste that’s not overpowering.

Fancy something slightly more festive when visiting wineries on Seneca Lake? Try their wonderful sparkling wines. 

These bubbly beverages are crisp but light, making them an ideal option for anyone playing the long game.

The Rieslings are lovely, but we’d say the Pinot Noirs made with black cherries are to-die-for.

What makes things even better is the fact that Damiani Wine Cellars has what might be the best lake views in New York.

The tasting room directly overlooks the rolling hills, gorgeous forestry, and glimmering lake. So, this is one of the Seneca Lake wineries that you’ll have to drag yourself away from.

It’s going to be tough, but just purchase a few bottles to take home to soothe the inevitable post-visit blues! One of the best reasons for visiting wineries on Seneca Lake, is all the bottles you get to take home, right?


Anthony Road Wine Company

If you’re looking for delicious Rieslings and dry pours, then check out the next place on our list of Seneca Lake wineries. The Anthony Road Wine Company is one of our top picks for wineries on Seneca Lake that are open year-round.

Although their tastings require an appointment (they’re strict, so don’t bother trying as a walk-in!), you’ll be able to visit during the festive season and the height of summer.

This is one of the Seneca Lake wineries that doesn’t accept reservations. This makes it tricky to score a tasting session during the summer months. 

But if you arrive when the doors open at 11 am, you’ll have a decent shot. Don’t let the booking policy put you off visiting this amazing choice for wineries on Seneca Lake.

Although we adore their beers, ciders, and wines, we’re partial to their amazing Mimosas. 

They’re made using the winery’s signature sparkling Riesling and a delicious glass of local juice. Delicious.

If you need to soak up all that alcohol with a hearty meal, then you can stop by the onsite Phoenician bistro. It serves amazing Mediterranean fare and is well worth trying to score a table at.
